About Tides Baseball...
Ryan Westmoreland (pictured to the left) of Portsmouth High School was the 06 Class "B" High School Baseball tournament MVP.  Ryan played Tides for 2 years and competed in the East Coast World Series and the AAU Nationals in Sarasota, Florida.  Ryan also trains with the Tampa Bay D-Rays and former Tides standout Rocco Baldelli in the Spring each year.

Why play Tides? Well, the Tides are simply an incredible program to play for...  We train and develop the state's top players on a yearly basis.  Anyone who is from Rhode Island knows how competitive it is to play at Bishop Hendricken HS, well in the history of the Tides program there have been well over 75 Tides players that have moved on to play at that school over the course of the Tides existence, not to mention all the former Tides who made All State and All Division while competing at the state's other top prep schools and public schools.  So our record speaks for itself when it comes to producing quality high school ball players.  It is simply outstanding, and that is why we are consider the "Premier AAU/Select Baseball Program" in the state of Rhode Island.  In addition, some former Tides players have gone on to the professional ranks, as some of these players include Rocco Baldelli, Jay Rainville, Chris Iannetta, Michael Watkins, and Tommy McClanne, to name just a few.  When you play for the Tides you know that you are playing with and against the best players in your age group.  And that is where you want to be as you prepare yourself to play competitive sports at the high school level.  The expense of playing one year with the Tides is worth every penny when you step onto the field at tryouts in March at your high school knowing deep down you are prepared to play at that level.  As the saying goes "Fail to Prepare, Prepare to Fail..."

Dan Gamache, Middletown, RI batting at the AAU Nationals in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2004. (pictured above)  Danny is now the starting shortstop for Bishop Hendricken High School and he took over those duties as just a sophomore.  Danny also started for the school's American Legion team as just a freshman.

Testimonial:  "It is hard to believe it has been two years since Danny received the news by way of a late night email that he had made the Tides team.  I remember how proud he was that he was on the Tides.  The experience only got better from there in ways we would never have imagined.  The efforts of the coaching staff and the experiences he gained have truly prepared him for the next level and have given him some truly important life lessons.  As we end this year we know Danny enjoyed the experiences he had and that he will always remember what he has learned.  Thanks for all your efforts and good luck to your program..."  Testimonial given by Mr. Dan Gamache, Middletown, RI - His son Danny played shortstop for the Tides from 2004 to 2005, and participated in the AAU Nationals in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Sarasota, Florida.  This past year his younger son Reed made the Tides team and plays second base.

Jay Rainville & Rocco Baldelli, (pictured above) both played Tides baseball and moved on to Bishop Hendricken and eventually the pros. Jay pitched for Coach Styborski for 3 years, where he developed many of pitching skills and mechanics as just a youngster. Rocco played for Styborski's Tides as 11, 12, and 13 year old, but missed his 14 year old season due to injury, Rocco led the Nation in hitting as a 12 year old and earned All-American Honors as his team won the Bronze Medal, losing only Arkansas in the countries semi-finals. With the Tides Rocco began to learn how to play centerfield, the position he would eventually play for the Tampa Bay D-Rays as a professional.

Chris Iannetta, (see left) played for the Tides when he was just 12 years old, Chris learned many of the skills that made him a great catcher from then Tides coach, Mike Manzo, the former LaSalle Head Coach who moved to California to teach and become an assistant baseball coach at Cal State Fullerton. Iannetta is now seeing some starting duties with the Colorado Rockies and his continued hard work makes him a candidate to becoming a professional baseball player for a long time to come. Chris competed with the Tides at Nationals in Nebraska and Minnesota.

David Palms, Smithfield, RI (pictured left) pitched for the Tides at the highest level of competition as both a 13 and 14 year old, David pitched in the East Coast World Series as 13 year old, and then the AAU Nationals in Florida as a 14 year old, he now has become one of the top pitchers in the state as the southpaw now hurls for Bishop Hendricken High School.

Winning and Strength of Schedule The Tides are always considered one of the top teams at the AAU Nationals and at home here in New England.  For example during the 05 season the Tides posted 3 wins versus the eventual National Champions and beat the eventual #2 team in the country and the #1 seed out of Florida, not to mention a victory versus the #2 team in the Carolinas.  When we step on the field, we expect to win all the time.  That is the type of team you should want to play for.  As for who we play here in New England - Well, we play the top teams New England and Connecticut has to offer.  On our schedule you will consistently find teams like the Connecticut Bombers, Team Connecticut, New England Lightning, South Shore Seadogs, and New England Ruffnecks.  These are program which we enjoy playing because they always provide excellent competition and exposure to a professional atmosphere which is essential when preparing a young team to play at a higher level.  And in turn these teams are more than happy to play us because they know it is good baseball when we get together.  That is an advantage your son has when playing for the Tides compared to a new program or a program which has proven that it can only lose consistently... As you will see the Tides have established relationships with the top programs in New England due to our own reputation and level of ability year in and year out.  Good teams want to play good teams, not pad their stats or winning percentage by playing teams they can beat up on. That proves nothing, and does nothing to develop players.

Garrett Horan, Providence, RI (pictured above) caught for the Tides at the 13U and 14U level of play. Garrett played in the East Coast World Series in Pennsylvania and then the AAU Nationals in Florida. He has become one of the top catchers in the state as he has excelled for Moses Brown School. As a junior he missed winning MVP of the class "B" division by just one vote, and as a catcher he hit well over .400 while throwing out runners at consistent clip.
