The grand stage for the 14U AAU Nationals is Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, Florida, which is pictured at the top of this page. This outstanding facility is also the home of the Cincinnati Reds and Boston Red Sox minor league affiliates. This top notch complex gives the AAU tournament the use of 5 fields, because not only do they play games on the main diamond inside the stadium, but the tournament will also use the 4 spring training practice diamonds found out beyond the outfield fence of Ed Smith Stadium during tournament play. These practice diamonds are used by the pros and are typically found in better shape than a Division 1 college facility. Also, the tournament will use the best high school facilities found in the Sarasota region, and these fields rival college complexes seen in the North as well. When you break it all down all the teams traveling to play in the 14U AAU Nationals are assured to be playing against some of the best teams in the country and on some of the best fields in the United States. If the 14U team fails to make the Division 1 Nationals it may qualify for the Division 2 Nationals which takes place at the Disney complex, which is also pictured below. As you can see it is an awesome facility, so either way the Tides should be playing on some incredible fields to end the year. |
